Junbi ("we", "us", or "our") is a meal planning app that helps you decide what to cook based on what you already have. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1. Information we collect
We collect only what's needed to make the app work:
- Account information — your name, email address, and profile picture, provided when you sign in with Google.
- Pantry items — the ingredients and groceries you add or scan into your pantry.
- Meal history and ratings — meals you've cooked and how you've rated them, so we can make better suggestions.
- Saved recipes — recipes you import, photograph, or save within the app.
- Meal plans — weekly plans you generate or build manually.
- Dietary preferences and notes — information you optionally provide in your profile to personalise suggestions.
We do not collect payment information, location data, contacts, or device identifiers.
2. How we use your information
- To provide and personalise the app — suggesting meals based on your pantry, preferences, and past ratings.
- To generate shopping lists from your meal plans.
- To process photos you submit (receipts, pantry items) using AI to extract ingredient information.
- To remember your settings and preferences between sessions.
We do not use your data for advertising or sell it to third parties.
3. AI processing
Junbi uses AI models to analyse photos, suggest meals, and generate recipes. Photos and text you submit are processed to produce results and are not retained beyond the immediate request. AI-generated suggestions are not stored unless you explicitly save them.
4. How we store your data
Your data is stored on our servers. We take reasonable technical measures to protect it, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls. No system is perfectly secure — please contact us if you believe your account has been compromised.
5. Data sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties except:
- Google OAuth — for sign-in authentication only. We receive your profile information from Google; we do not share data back to Google beyond the sign-in flow.
- Legal requirements — if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
6. Data retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal information from our systems within 30 days.
7. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your account and data.
- Export your data in a portable format.

8. Cookies and local storage
Junbi uses browser local storage to remember your session and app preferences (such as planned meals). We do not use third-party tracking cookies or analytics services.
9. Children's privacy
Junbi is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with their information, please contact us.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
